The most elderly in the country live in Kerala. Here 16.5% of the total population is the elderly (56 lakh people above the age of 60). Of these, 11% of people are 80 years or older. By 2031 they will be 25%. There are only elders left in many villages.

The Kerala Migration Survey report of the International Institute of Migration and Development (IIMD) suggests that one of the 3.43 crore population of the state is at least one member of the house. There are locks in more than 12 lakh houses, so there are only elderly in more than 21 lakhs.
