Beaten for not talking in Marathi, just the conductor told that he comes to Kannada.
People beat him for not talking in Marathi in Belgavi on the bus conductor of Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KRTC). According to officials, the incident occurred near Sulebhavi at around 12:30 pm on Friday afternoon.
The whole matter is related to free tickets. Women’s bus tickets are free in Karnataka. A male passenger was asking for free tickets. On refusing, he said that speak in Marathi, while the bus conductor told that, he comes to Kannada. Which increased the dispute.
The victim said- 6-7 people came and started beating as soon as they stopped
Bus conductor Mahadev Hawakari told that, when I was cutting the ticket, a woman and a man were sitting in the bus. The woman sitting with the man asked for two tickets for free, I gave him one and asked whom do you want to another ticket. The woman pointed to the man.
But I told that there is no free travel facility for men in Karnataka, so they asked me to talk in Marathi. I said that I do not know Marathi. I asked him to talk in Kannada. At this only 6-7 people aboard the bus attacked. About 50 more people reached there as soon as the bus stopped. The bus conductor has suffered injuries in this fight.
Admit in conductor hospital, 4 people arrested DCP Rohan Jagdish went to BIMS Hospital in Belagavi and inquired about the health of the conductor. Three people have been arrested by the Marihal police of Karnataka. A minor has also been detained. The arrested accused have been identified as Maruti Turumuri, Rahul Naidu and Balu Gojgekar. DCP Rohan Jagdish assured that action would be taken after investigating the case. The three accused were produced in court on Friday. Where the court has sent the accused to judicial custody for 14 days.
