ABVP has won the JNU Students Union election after 2015-16.
Wahr Lal Nehru University Student Union (JNSU) has won 3 out of 4 posts in the election. These include the post of Chairman, Vice President and General Secretary. At the same time, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has returned after 9 years and won the post of Joint Secretary.
According to the results released by the JNSU Election Commission late Monday night, Nitish Kumar of All India Students Association (AISA) won the post of president with 1,702 votes. ABVP’s Shikha Swaraj got 1430 votes while students Federation of India (SFI) Candidate Tayba Ahmed got 918 votes.
Manisha Vice President (1150 votes) of Democratic Students Federation (DSF) defeated Nitu Gautam of ABVP by 34 votes. Muntha Fatima (1520 votes) won the post of general secretary. At the same time, Vaibhav Meena of ABVP was elected joint secretary with 1518 votes. Out of 7,905 students in the election held on April 25, 5,500 have voted in election.
JNSU elections were to be held on 8 April, but voting was held on 25 April after incidents of sabotage and violence in the campus.

- Chairman Nitish Kumar: Funds are being cut continuously in the campus. We will draw funds from the treasury of the government. The campus infrastructure has been ruined, it will be improved.
- Vice President Manisha: This victory is the victory of the entire university. This is the victory of Baba Saheb, the victory of his dream. JNU was red and will remain red. We will work for students.
- General Secretary Muntha Fatima: The left unit has always won here. We have to fight against centralization and privatization of education. We will continue to fight for the rights of students.
- Joint Secretary Vaibhav Meena: The saffron has waved in JNU. We have won this after a decade, and ABVP will win all four seats in the next election.
Divide into Left parties, ABVP contested alone This time there was a rift between the Left Alliance in the JNSU election. AISA and Democratic Students Federation (DSF) contested together. While the SFI and All India Students Federation (AISF) tied up with Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students Association (BAPSA) and Progressive Students Association (PSA).
ABVP alone contested elections and made it to JNSU after 9 years. After 2015-16, ABVP has made it to the central panel of JNSU. ABVP won the post of president in 2000-01.
