Aamir Khan recently talked about the film Lagaan. He said that when this film was being made, Javed Akhtar warned him that the film would not run. Not only this, Javed Akhtar also said that the films in which Amitabh Bachchan played the Nauretor used to flop at the box office.
In a conversation with India Today, Aamir Khan said, making Lagaan was a very scary experience for him. But his concern increased even more when Javed Akhtar called him and asked, why are you making this film? This film will not work. Javed counted all the things against Lagaan. He had said, sports film never goes on, the film made on cricket does not run at all and you are speaking in Awadhi, who will understand what you are saying?
Javed’s another argument was that everyone is shooting DKNY clothes and shooting in Switzerland, while you are shooting in a village wearing a dhoti. He also said that you have made Amitabh Bachchan a nauretor of the film. So obviously, all the films in which Amitabh have given voice overs have flopped.
Aamir further said that when he proposed Amitabh Bachchan for the film, he also said the same thing. He had said, ‘I will do it, I have no objection. But whatever film I have been a Nauretor, those films could not work. So keep this in mind. The rest, I will do it. ‘, If Aamir believes, he had full faith in the story of this film.
Let me tell you, Lagaan was released in the year 2001. It was nominated for the Oscar Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category in 2002, but could not win the award.
