Rashid was arrested in 2016 under UAPA on charges of terrorist funding. He has been lodged in Tihar Jail since 2019.
The bail plea of Baramulla MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who is lodged in Tihar Jail in the Jammu and Kashmir Terror Funding case, will be heard in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday.
Rashid filed a bail petition to participate in the Lok Sabha proceedings. On this, during the hearing on 10 March, the trial court refused to give them custody parole. After this, Rashid turned to the High Court.
During the hearing, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) opposed Rashid’s bail. NIA said- Rashid has no right to participate in the proceedings of Parliament while in custody. Here, on March 21, the Patiala House Court of Delhi also rejected Rashid’s regular bail plea.
Rashid has also been arrested in 2005 and 2019 Rashid was arrested in 2017 in Terror Funding Case in Jammu. Rashid was also arrested by the Special Operation Group in 2005 from Srinagar. Rashid was then accused of helping the terrorists. In this case, Rashid remained lodged in Rajbagh jail for 3 months and 17 days. In this case, the Chief Judicial Magistrate acquitted all the allegations on humanitarian grounds. He was arrested under UAPA in August 2019.

Travel from junior engineer to MP Rashid has studied engineering. Some time worked on contract in rural development. Meanwhile, the job of Assistant Manager was found in Jammu and Kashmir Construction Project Corporation.
Even while working, he used to raise people’s issues. Then someone advised him to come into politics. He decided that he would enter politics. In 2008, he quit the government job.
In the same year, Langet contested from the assembly and won. After this he formed his party. Fought elections again in 2014 and won. His party contested 3-4 seats, losing all the other candidates.
And the biggest identity has been defeated by former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah and Sajjad Lone, president of the People’s Conference by a huge margin in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
