Israel Launches first airerike on beerut since ceasefire targets hezbolh site

Israel-hezbollah conflict: Israel on Friday (March 28, 2025) launched an air attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut. This is the first attack on the capital of Lebanon after the Israeli-Hizbollah ceasefire in November last year. In this attack, Israel targeted a drone storage hideout located in Dahiyah, the stronghold of Iran -backed Hizbollah.

A major explosion occurred in Berut and smoke was seen rising from the area. This area is a residential and commercial center near two schools. The Israeli army claimed that Hizbullah uses civilian areas as cover, so the residents were warned to vacate before the attack.

Tension on the border: Increasing violence between Israel-Hizbullah
The attack occurred when rockets were fired on Northern Israel from Lebanon. Subsequently, Israel warned to vacate parts of the suburbs of Berut. Hizbullah refused to take the responsibility of rocket fire and accused Israel of increasing violence with false excuses. Israeli’s Defense Minister said, “If Israeli citizens do not get peace, then there will be no peace in Beirut.” Israel also made it clear that it would continue retaliation to ensure security in northern areas.

Lebanese response
The Lebanese government has ordered the closure of all schools and universities, as panic spread among the citizens after the attack. People were seen walking on foot and vehicles. President Joseph Aun issued a statement from Paris condemning the attack and called it “a violation of the ceasefire arbitrary by France and the United States”.

Three people died in an Israeli attack
According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, three people died and 18 others were injured in the Israeli attacks, including women and children. The United Nations Special Coordinator Genin Hennis-Plaschart called it “extremely worrying” and said, “The area is at a significant turn and needs immediate diplomatic solution.”

Stress related to the tough struggle of Gaza struggle
