Israel carried out air strikes at several places in Lebanon on Saturday night. 7 people have died in these attacks. Israel carried out the attack in response to a rocket fired from Lebanon. This was the first major attack of Israel after a ceasefire released with Hizbullah for the last 4 months.
Hizbullah issued a statement saying that he has not fired rockets on Israel and is following the ceasefire. The Israeli Army (IDF) reported that 6 rockets were fired from the city of Metula near the Lebanon border. 3 of these entered Israel, which were destroyed in the air itself.
According to IDF, the attackers have not been identified, but have targeted Hizbullah’s command center and dozens of rocket launchers.
In Yohmore village of Lebanon, the Israeli army fired shells and targeted the hideout associated with Hizbullah.
Netanyahu ordered retaliation
According to the Times of Israel report, in response to the rocket attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked the army to retaliate in Lebanon. For this, dozens of bases have been ordered to be targeted.
At the same time, the Prime Minister of Lebanon Nawaf Salaam has also asked the army to take necessary steps. However, Nawaf made it clear that the country does not want to war.
According to Lebanon’s official news agency NNA, five people were killed in toolin village in southern Lebanon, including one child, while 10 others were injured in the Israeli attack.

After Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack, Hizbullah started missiles, drones and rocket attacks on Israel. Under the ceasefire agreement, Israel was to withdraw from all areas of Lebanon by the end of January, but the deadline was extended to 18 February. However, Israel still has a presence at 5 places of Lebanon.
Lebanon has appealed to the United Nations to pressurize Israel to completely recall. The United Nations Interim Army has also expressed concern over the growing violence and appealed to all sides to exercise restraint.
Israel’s attacks continue in Gaza too
Apart from Lebanon, Israel is constantly attacking Gaza. Last week, on Tuesday, Israel started attacking in Gaza, breaking the ceasefire. About 600 Palestinians have died in these attacks.
The Israeli army said that it is planning a new attack in three areas of Gaza City and Palestinians have been warned to leave from there.
Israel has ordered to intensify attacks in Gaza until the release of 59 hostages present in Hamas’ captivity. 24 of these hostages are alive. Earlier, there was a ceasefire between the two on 19 January. The release of hostage was done in this.
Israel had already stopped supply of food, fuel and human help in Gaza to put pressure in ceasefire conversation. This has affected 2 million people.
