He said during a press conference at Hotel Radisson on Thursday that the youth of Kashmir have a unmatched passion for cricket, but they have constant opportunities and lack of infrastructure to move forward. In fact, Irfan reached Srinagar at the inauguration of Epic Victory Cricket League (EVCL), where he said that the aim of the new league is to bridge this gap and bring out raw talent.

In the press conference, Irfan Pathan said, “I have seen it myself. A left -handed fast bowler of Kupwara, Baramulla’s boy, there is fire among them. What is lacking is exposure and proper training.” Retired Ranji Trophy players will be seen playing in Epic Victory Cricket League. A few days ago, former India fast bowler Praveen Kumar expressed enthusiasm at the commencement of this league in Noida. Praveen Kumar will also be seen as a mentor in this upcoming league.

With this, Irfan said that EVCL will provide a very important platform not only in Jammu and Kashmir but also for young players of states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. He said that there will be a mixture of emerging talent and experienced domestic players in the league, which will give an opportunity to learn and guide.

Irfan Pathan, who took 301 wickets for India internationally, further said, “This is not just a tournament, it will be a platform to change life.” Pathan also emphasized the immediate need for better cricket infrastructure in Kashmir. He said that many districts still play on a matting wicket. Pathan insisted that if you want to prepare the players for national level competitions, then the time has come to prepare the turf wicket.
