Vaibhav Suryavanshi Center in 35 Balls: Vaibhav Suryavanshi achieved the distinction of becoming the youngest player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by scoring a century in 35 balls against Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Suryavanshi (14 years 32 days) broke this record, leaving behind Manish Pandey (19 years 253 days), Rishabh Pant (20 years 218 days) and Devdutt Padikkal (20 years 289 days).
This is also the second fastest century of the tournament, behind Chris Gayle, who scored a century in 30 balls, and the fastest century scored by an Indian, which left behind Yusuf Pathan’s record of scoring a century in 37 balls.
Chasing 210 runs against GT, Suryavanshi was ready to attack. He scored 28 runs in the over of veteran Ishant Sharma with some extra runs with three sixes and two fours. He achieved a 50 -run milestone with two sixes and a four off Washington Sundar balls.
After this, he scored 30 runs with three fours and three sixes on GT debutant Karim Janat and brought the fielders to the audience by hitting a total of 11 sixes in the 10th over. His innings ended on 101 runs after being bowled by the famous Krishna.
Vaibhav is also the youngest player to play in the IPL. This record was earlier in the name of Prayas Ray Burman (played for RCB), who made her debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2019 at the age of 16.
Last year, Vaibhav became the youngest player to be purchased in the IPL auction, when he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore. The 2024 season saw him performing well at both domestic and international levels.
Born on 27 March 2011 in Bihar, Vaibhav made his first class debut for Bihar in January 2024, when he was just 12 years and 284 days. During his debut, Vaibhav scored 71 off 42 balls against Baroda in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 and became the youngest Indian to score a half-century in List-A.
At the international level, Vaibhav set a record of the fastest youth Test century by an Indian by scoring a century against Australia in Chennai. He also played an important role in bringing India to the final of the ACC Under -19 Asia Cup, contributing two important half -centuries.
