A Colorful Cruise Industry Facts Infographic Chart
I always enjoy reading and receiving informative 🖼 colorful travel infographics. I came upon this interesting …
🌺 Cruise Industry Facts 🌺
chart a while back, that I thought would make for interesting ☕ coffee time reading. It’s amazing how the cruise industry has blossomed over the years and for good reason.
I have always said, that there are some amazing All Inclusive Cruise Deals throughout the year, that simply can’t be beat for – Value!
Our family have enjoyed 🛳 cruise vacations for many years, especially when our children were young. We chose a cabin with bunks beds, suitable for 4 passengers at that time. The deals and savings, were huge!
As well, there were also extra cruise incentives added, when booking.
Below, are just a few interesting cruise industry facts for the curious like me. Together with a colorful infographic, offering more cruise related facts and figures. These are probably a little outdated now, so the numbers most certainly are much higher today.
Cruise Industry Facts and Figures
A Few More Cruise Industry Facts
Passengers
More than 10,000,000 people take a cruise vacation annually. Of those, approximately 80 percent of these people will cruise in North American waters.
Ports of call
There are more than two thousand ports of call around the globe that cruise ships can travel to.
Most Popular Departure Ports
Miami, Port Canaveral, and Fort Lauderdale in the State of Florida, make up at least half of all the departure ports, where passengers begin their cruise holiday. This of course being the main gateway to the Caribbean!
Non-destination
For many seasoned cruisers, the ports of call are not their main destination, but the actual ship itself and the on board luxuries the ship offers.
Cruise length
The average length of a cruise taken is slightly over seven days. My favorite has always been 10 to 14, for value and because the time goes … oh so fast!
Cruise Ship Population
There are more than three hundred cruise ships at any given place around the world. Together, they can jointly carry over 300,000 passengers, each and every day of the year.
Individual Capacities
The latest mammoth super-sized cruise ships carry over four thousand people, including passengers and crew. These ships would make the Titanic look like a toy and many are as tall as a; sixteen story building.
Construction Cost
Those huge new ships can cost a cruise line at least a half-billion American dollars, before the first passenger steps on board.
Three Major Cruise Lines
Today, 3 cruise line groups … Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Star/NCL, command approximately; two-thirds of the world’s cruise passenger business.
Royal Caribbean’s {Icon of the Seas} launched in January 2024. She is now the largest cruise ship in the world. This beautiful enormous ship, has a crew of over 2300 and is capable of accompanying well over 5600 passengers on average.
