The Meteorological Department has issued light rain-barfari alert in Jammu and Kashmir and some areas of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday today. At the same time, there is a possibility of storm in 10 states including Delhi-Haryana. These states may blow wind at a speed of 30-40 km. Light rain may also occur. At the same time, there will be heat in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Meteorologist Soma Sen Roy said- There is a possibility of a slightly more heatwave situation in western India and central India. In the year 2024, the most hot year was recorded in the country.
On 28 February, the Meteorological Department released the heat outlook from March to May 2025. It warned that the maximum and minimum temperature in most parts of the country would be higher than normal.
13 states included in the country’s heatwave pron state
Usually 13 states of the country are considered to be the heat prone state. This list includes Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Vidarbha, parts of the Ganges coastal West Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Usually the core heatwave zone i.e. CHZ causes scorching heat from March to June. Many times there is a possibility of heatwave and heat stroke in the month of July.
In April 2024, West Bengal had the highest number of days in the last 15 years in West Bengal and in Odisha in the last 9 years. Odisha also had the highest 16 days of heatwave in April 2024 since 2016.
What is the heatwave and when does IMD announce it?
When the temperature in an area is higher than normal and the strong heat starts running there, it is considered to be heatwave. So much heat can last for two or more days. The fixed temperature for heatwave may vary to different countries.
According to the Meteorological Department, heatwaves usually run in the country when the temperature in the plains is 40 degrees Celsius, 37 ° C in seaside areas and 30 ° C in hilly areas.
The temperature in an area, 4.5 ° C above normal, is called heatwave and 6.4 ° C is called sevier heatwave.
