ICC vs PCB: The Champions Trophy 2025 has ended. In the final, India won the title by defeating New Zealand and returned to their homeland with the trophy. But there is still a ruckus over the award distribution ceremony after the final. Actually, there was no PCB official on the stage, many former cricketers and people of Pakistan were raising questions about it. Now ICC’s answer has come on this.
4 officials including ICC President Jai Shah to win the final match of Team India were present on the stage. It was attended by BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Devjit Saikia along with New Zealand Director Roger Twose. After seeing this, the first question was raised by the former Pakistan cricketers and some people as to why their board (PCB) officer was not present on the stage even after being hosts. He described it as unfortunate.
ICC replied
Speaking to Jio TV, the ICC’s spokesperson said that the ICC had arranged to call PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi on stage for the award distribution ceremony but did not reach. According to the rule, the ICC can only call the head of the host board for this. Such as president, vice president, chairman or CEO. Other board officers, even if they are present at the venue, they may not be part of the proceedings of the stage.
Earlier, former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram had expressed displeasure over the absence of a PCB officer on the stage, saying, “The health of the chairman was not good.” But there was no one on the stage from PCB. Sumair Ahmed and Usman came from there. But both of them did not appear. We were the hosts of the Champions Trophy. Therefore, whoever was representing the chairman, should have been there. Wasn’t they called on stage? ”
India becomes Champions, Pakistan’s bad condition
The host of the Champions Trophy Pakistan was out of the group stage of the tournament. He lost both the initial matches and the final match was canceled due to rain. India won all the group stage matches. After defeating Australia in the semi -finals, Rohit Sharma & Team won the title by defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets in the final.
