Home Minister Shah thanked CM Hemant for naming the police academy after Lachit Barfukan.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in Jorhat, Assam on Saturday- before the BJP government was formed in 2016, the Congress had put Assam in the fire of riots.

I was also beaten by the Congress government in Assam. Hiteshwar Saikia was the Chief Minister of Assam and we raised slogans against former PM Indira Gandhi.

I also ate jail food in Assam for seven days and people from all over the country came to save Assam. Today, Assam is moving forward on the path of development.

Shah inaugurated the first phase of the renovated Police Academy in Jorhat and laid the foundation of the second phase.

Shah said- Lachit Barfukan Police Academy will become the best police academy across the country in the coming five years.

I thank Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma for naming the academy after the commander of the Ahom Empire, Lachit Barfukan.

Brave warriors Lachit Barfukan helped Assam win against the Mughals. Lachit Barfukan was limited to the state of Assam only, but today the biography of Lachit Barfukan is being taught in 23 languages.

Actually, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three -day visit to the Northeast. He reached Jorhat in Assam late Friday evening. During this time, the Home Minister wrote in the post on his X handle that he will review the implementation of three new criminal laws in the northeastern states and will also meet his young friends in the Bodoland regional area at the 57th annual conference of All Bodo Students Union. Shah said- I am eager to participate in all programs.

Shah’s program in Assam

Home Minister Shah inaugurated the highly police Academy before leaving for Mizoram on Saturday morning. Officials said that the Lachit Barfukan Police Academy, spread over 340 acres, is being renewed in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs 1,024 crore. He will take a night’s rest at the State Guest Griha at Koinadhara, Guwahati.

On Sunday morning, Home Minister will leave for Dotma in Kokrajhar district of Assam to address the 57th annual conference of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU). Shah will return to Guwahati in the afternoon and review the progress of the Indian Justice Code with the Chief Ministers of eight states of the Northeast region. Shah will leave for Delhi on Sunday night.

Security system strict due to Shah’s visit

Mizoram Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Shukla said on Friday that security in the state has been tightened before Home Minister Shah’s visit. Security forces have been asked to be vigilant during the Home Minister’s visit. Apart from the state police, additional forces have also been called from the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to keep strict monitoring at major routes and places.
