In Himachal Pradesh, there has been a political fierce battle on spending the money of temples on government schemes. The former BJP government in the state has also demanded money for temples for cowsheds. This claim has been made by the Congress government.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu Office shared a letter of the former BJP government on 29 August 2018 to the media, in which 15 percent of the budget of temples was said to be given to the Gaushalas run by the NGOs.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur had accused the Congress of spending the money of temples ‘Sukh Shiksha Yojana’ and ‘Chief Minister Sukhashray Yojana’, calling the Congress anti -eternal. After this, the Congress government of Himachal also got gritty across the country and the BJP aggressively surrounded the Sukhu government.

Jairam started the tradition of looting the money of temples- Suresh
Congress MLA Suresh Kumar said that former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur started the practice of looting the money of temples. With which mouth Jairam Thakur is now beating that the government is spending the money of temples in government schemes. He said, Jairam has been the first Chief Minister, at the time of which the wealth of the state was looted by a penny.
The Chief Minister said, those who say the government of double engine took a fierce loan. Now the Congress government has to take loans to repay the same loan and its interest. He said, the BJP, which has lost public confidence, has hatched a new conspiracy against the Congress government.

The government provided the budget for both schemes- MLA
Suresh Kumar said that the BJP should know that the government runs from the budget. The Congress government has passed a budget of Rs 5 thousand 500 crore. In this, a provision of budget has been made for ‘Sukh Shiksha Yojana’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Sukhashray Yojana’.

In fact, on 29 January 2025, the current government wrote a letter to the DC of all other districts except Kullu and Lahaul Spiti. In this, the money of the temples was sought for two government schemes. After this, the BJP attacked Himachal’s ruling Congress government. But now the ruling Congress has blamed the BJP.
However, Chief Minister Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri rejected the fact that the government itself has made a provision for the Sukhashray Yojana and Sukh Shiksha Yojana.
