No amount of good parenting is going to override a child’s direct need for stimulus, both when traveling and at their destination. As a result, we thought we would offer you a few helpful tips when traveling with toddlers, so everyone can have a good time.
For us {Baby Boomers} and retirees, these tips may be useful if you find yourself traveling with your 👪 grandchildren. 🙂

First, try to take them seriously when it comes to what they would like to do, depending on their age of course. This doesn’t mean taking them out on the town until three in the morning.
It does mean listening to what they’d like to do on their 🏖 holiday and using those wants, in order to plan a better time for everyone. Small questions will save you heaps of unwanted stress down the road.
If your children are old enough, sit down and 📝 plan your holiday together. See what everyone would like to do!

Prepping them about the trip also does the trick. The night before leaving, tell your kids what to expect when getting up the next day and preparing to leave. Make sure to remind them before you leave home the next day, that they have everything ready to go!
Finding something interesting for your child to see or visit during the trip, will most surely get them excited. It would help if they too, are anticipating that out-of-town or out of the country trip.

Make sure that they’re also comfortable in their clothing, as well as their seat. Bring your child’s favorite story 📖 books and coloring books, to help keep him or her busy during a long ✈ flight or 🚗 drive.
You can also take advantage of technology and download a few child-friendly apps on your tablet or mobile phone. If you take the time to research, you’ll find that there are tons available to keep them entertained!

Education should also be a really big part of taking your older children on holiday, but in an enjoyable way. Taking them to 🏛 museums, visiting local landmarks and mixing in a little culture and history with all the 🍨 ice cream and sunshine, is a great idea.
A survey of parents carried out by; The Adventure Company, suggests that children who are taken on holiday, achieve higher academic grades and develop more advanced social skills.
“The tour company’s research, which consisted of 4,000 interviews with parents in England, revealed that 87 per cent of respondents reported that going on holiday enabled their child to perform better in at least one subject at school.”

The research found that a child’s aptitude for geography, history and languages benefited the most, and this seems obvious.
Language-wise, teaching a child to learn a new method of communicating, can actually be fun. Teaching yourself at the same time has its own benefits too!
Simple things like asking them to order for the family from a foreign-language menu, or asking someone what the time is, can help bolster their confidence and their communicative abilities. All for helping them develop better language-learning skills for the future. 🙂

There is a lot of advice on the web about traveling with children, but ensuring their destination is just as enjoyable and beneficial for them, is important too.
Most importantly of all, ensure that your child feels that you are enjoying yourself as well. Children take great interest in the emotional well being of their parents. If you are going out of your own mind with boredom, they will pick up on it.
Tag-team activities are great, even if it’s just wandering down to the sea front, or exploring some ancient ruins.

Family holidays for working parents, is a time in which they can really spend some quality time with their children. If you can put the panic button down and focus on spending quality time together, traveling with your kids will be wonderful, with memories that will last a lifetime!
