Hamas, a militant organization of Palestine, will return the bodies of 4 Israeli hostages on Thursday. These include Shiri Bibas and his 2 children Ariel Bibas and Kefir Bibas. The fourth body is of hostage named Odded Lifeshitz.
When Hamas held him hostage on 7 October 2023, Ariel was 4 years old and Kefir was 9 months old. Yarden, the father of these children, was released earlier this month.
Apart from this, Hamas will release 6 hostages on Saturday. It is double the number already fixed. Israel will release all women arrested from October 2023 and Palestinians under 19 years of age in lieu of the hostages to be released on Saturday.
Along with this, the Egypt will give permission to carry debris removal machines in Gaza through the Border.
Kefir was the youngest hostage in Hamas’s captivity
When Kefir was taken hostage, he was just 9 months old. He was then the youngest hostage in Hamas’s possession. Hamas claimed in November 2023 that Shiri and their two children had died in Israeli bombing.
Hamas also released a video in which Yorden Bibas was telling the Israeli PM Netanyahu responsible for the death of his family. However, Israel never accepted this claim of Hamas.
An Israeli official told the Reuters that the deceased hostages would be identified in Israel before declaring the names.

The exchange of hostage has changed 6 times so far
In Israel and Hamas, on January 19, there was a ceasefire for the release of the hostages, in which the release of the hostages is to be done in 3 phases. 33 Israeli hostages are to be released under the first phase. Out of this, 19 hostages have been released in lieu of more than 1100 Palestinian prisoners so far. Israel says that eight out of the remaining 14 have died.
Under the ceasefire deal implemented last month, hostage and Palestinian prisoners have been swapped six times.
On Saturday, Israel released 369 Palestinian prisoners wearing T-shirts. While Hamas left 3 Israeli hostages.
Ceasefire deal being completed in three phases
This deal of exchange of prisoners between Israel and Palestine will be completed in three phases. In this, hostage will be swapped for 42 days.
First Phase:
- From January 19 to March 1, there will be a complete ceasefire in Gaza. Hamas 33 will release Israeli hostages. Israel will release 33 Palestinian prisoners in lieu of one of its hostages daily. 50 Palestinian prisoners will be released in lieu of each Israeli female soldier.
Second phase:
- It was said that on the 16th day of the first phase, i.e. by February 3, everything goes well, then the negotiation on the second phase plan will begin. The attack will not be done during this time. The remaining hostages will be released alive. However, the conversation has not started yet.
- Israel will release 1 thousand Palestinian prisoners, out of which around 190 prisoners have been serving sentence for more than 15 years.
Third Phase:
- Gaza will be resettled in the last phase of this deal. It will take 3 to 5 years. The bodies of hostage killed in Hamas’s possession will also be handed over to Israel.
