Singer Guru Randhawa is also known for his singing besides his singing. He keeps his opinion openly on many issues on social media. Fans have a lot of unknown nature of Guru.
Singer is currently in the headlines with his solo album ‘Faidout Prividis’. Prior to this, he has worked with T-series for almost a decade. There have been reports of estrangement between T-series and Guru for a long time.
In a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Guru has spoken about his new album and T-series. Read the main things of the interview…
Guru’s look in a song of ‘without presences’
Question- What is the story behind the name of your solo album ‘Without Prividis’?
Answer- This is my first independent album. I have tried to describe the journey that I have fixed from the first day till now through this album. Trying to show your emotion. I have kept this name ‘without Prividis’ inspired by my music journey.
Many times in life you do such a thing that requires changes. Then you move towards that change. This is my first step towards my own change.
Question- You started with Independent Music.
Answer- Yes, I have grown up listening to an artist who used to write, sing and make music. He had nothing to do with film music. I tried to be like them. God bless that he made me the same. What I wanted to be.
Sing whatever you want, wear whatever you want. There was no hindrance. I have gone ahead of the obstruction that was there. We have done a lot of experiments through this album. You will see my experiment in music, lyrics, flows, videos. In these songs, you will also see emotion and feeling clear.
Question- You do not come from a musical background. In such a situation, where did this clarity come from at the age of three that music has to be done?
Answer- I think this clarity came in me from TV. I have been inspired by TV. In the recent times, the person who has a TV and phone is an artist. But it was not so at that time. There were a total of 28–30 artists in the first year and there were five years. Seeing them, I used to think that I had to join these 28.
Once in my childhood, I went to sing in class, my madam said that your voice is good. I accepted his talk and started singing. At the same time it was understood that it could become my means to come on TV. From the seventh grade, I started writing.
I have been listening to Bablu Maan and Gurdas Mann Sir since childhood. Those people used to write their songs themselves. I also started writing songs by creating fake girlfriends in my mind. Whoever used to be a beautiful girl, would call her girlfriends and write.
Guru started his music career in 2012.
Question- You have made an identity in the industry on your own. What obstruction was you talking about, after which you had to bring your album yourself?
Answer- See, interruption in the artist’s life remains from the beginning. But how he comes out of those obstacles through his art, he is the talent of that artist. The biggest obstruction in the music world comes in the creative field.
Let me tell you with an example. Be it a nursery child or ninth-tenth, both gives exams. But there is no pressure to prove anything on the nursery child. At the same time, the child of ninth-tenth has to prove everyone in class, home, society with his results.
I consider myself a child of nursery-LKG in the field of creativity. There is no pressure on itself. I did not do anything on my own on my own. What I am, I am on the basis of audiences.
Question- Bollywood is often accused of nepotism but this does not happen in the music industry. What do you think?
Answer- My opinion on nepotism is very different. I think the child of a superstar who is becoming a star, then the one who had become a superstar came from a normal family. If I talk about myself, my upcoming generation will decide how to use the facilities they have got.
Question- Your fans claim that you are outsider, so T-series is preventing you from working independent. What is the truth?
Answer- There is nothing like that. I have worked with T series for nine years. I have developed by joining them. I am working for him in the coming time too. My relationship with Bhushan sir is the same from day one. This is just the job of fake news.
Question- What is going to get new to the audience in your album ‘Vidout Prividis’?
Answer- In this album, the audience will get to see everything new. We changed the flow of the song. Newness will be seen in the lyrics of the song. The new artist has been given a chance to write albums. I have changed myself to make it.
My journey to bring this to people has been very sweet. We have worked very hard in the backhand. But I am not a person who makes noise about his work. I have always put my music on the front. I have known people because of music. So it is my endeavor to speak my music. I can look less.
Question- There are 9 songs in this album. Which is your favorite song, whose lyrics do you like?
Answer- An extended song is coming. I like that very much. For the ‘Vidout Prividis’ album, I will ask the audience to listen to all if they have 9 songs. If they have data to listen to only three songs, then I advise to check the names of the songs, listen to them which they find relaxed. I have all the favorite songs. This album is like a home to me. Just like we like everything at home, I like all the songs.
Guru made his Bollywood debut in the year 2017 with the suit-suit song of the Hindi medium film.
Question- Today you are a successful artist. Do you ever remember the old days during this success?
Answer- Even today when I remember, I remember the days of college. Leaving the village, a new city came. The difference between the village and the city was shaken. It was very strange to see the boys and girls of the city. Thinking at that time, it seems why I was like that. I had nothing to lose, there was a lot to get.
I now live life in a cool. There is no way of any kind. I pay attention to what to do in life. My team or the worker who feels should push more. But I do not think that. I made an album, now I want to go home and watch TV comfortably. I want a similar life.
Question- What is success for you?
Answer- Success to me is to get work tomorrow. Today I wrote songs, made an album. But what about tomorrow? If I have work for tomorrow, on which I work hard, that is success. I am working, this is success.
Question- What are your desires at this time? What to do, which has not happened yet?
Answer- I want to be a friend of Allen Musk. I will show this by doing this. I also want to befriend Leonardo Dickaprio and Robert de Niro Saheb. Sometimes what happens, you are thinking something else. People with you think something else. God is sitting by planning something else for you. In such a situation, when all three start thinking in a direction, then work is made. The wish is fulfilled. I want to make all these people friends, but my team people are not thinking so.
Question- You recently made a film, which was not very much liked. What is the plan ahead about films?
Answer- Never mind. Search should continue in life. If any good thing is made in any field, then it takes time. This is also in the case of humans. A fake person quickly becomes a friend. It takes time for the friendship of a good person. My next film will come soon. Fearing failure, I will not move back. My films will continue to come now.
