After Ranveer Alahabadia Controversy, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed the OTT platform to follow the code of conduct. In the advisory issued by the government, he has been advised to follow the country’s law while publishing content on his platform. This advisory from the ministry came a few days after the indecent remarks of Podcaster Ranveer Alahabadia.
Public publishing porn content is a crime
The ministry said that for some time, there were constant complaints about the spread of objectionable and pornographic materials on the OTT platform and social media. Members of Parliament, Social Organizations and the general public demanded action from the government on this issue. Publication of porn or pornographic material is a punishable offense. The materials broadcast on the online curated content (OTT) platform will have to follow Indian laws.
The notice stated that the OTT platform is advised to take care of the code of ethics under various provisions of laws applied while publishing the content and IT Rules, 2021. Classification of content should be done on the basis of age of content through Code of Ethics, so that children can be protected from pornographic content. In addition, the self -regulatory bodies of the OTT platform are requested to take appropriate active action to violate the code of conduct by the platform.
Digital India bill will bring central government
Meanwhile, the Central Government is planning to replace Digital India bill in place of the current IT Act. The purpose of this new law is to prevent vulgarity on social media. YouTubers and digital content creators have to be regulated. The government has been working on this bill for 15 months and will include specific rules for various fields like telecommunications, IT and media.
The court asked the Center- you do something, otherwise we will do
Please tell that on Monday, while hearing the appeal of Ranveer Alahabadia, the Supreme Court had asked the Center to do something, otherwise we will do it. The bench had told the Attorney Solicitor General present in the court- ‘Such U-Tubers are coming up, do the central government wants to do anything. If they do something themselves then it is a very good thing, otherwise we cannot leave the gap here. So-Cald YouTube channels are misusing it and all things are coming out, so we have issued a notice.
We are ordering the Attorney General and Solicitor General to be present in the court during the next hearing. We cannot ignore the importance and sensitivity of this matter.
Ranveer went to Raina’s show as a judge
Let us know that YouTuber Ranveer Alahabadia made obscene remarks on the parents of a contestant at the India’s Got latent show. When the episode was released on 8 February, the show got involved in controversies. Complaints were lodged against all the people associated with the show including the show’s panel in several states including Mumbai and Assam. The cyber cell took immediate action and deleted the controversial episode of the show. Shortly thereafter, on the instructions of cyber cell, Raina deleted all the episodes of the show.
