Pataudi trophy retire: The Pataudi Trophy has been played between India and England for a long time. This is a Test series, which has been done in honor of the great cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. But now the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to retire this trophy. The Pataudi Trophy was first in 2007, in which India defeated England 1-0. When the Indian team visits England in the month of June-July, the Pataudi Trophy can be officially abolished.
The reason why the Pataudi Trophy is being retired has not been revealed. But the introduction of a new trophy in the name of any other great cricketer will also not be a shocking subject. According to a report published in Cricbuzz, no official of the England Cricket Board has confirmed the subject. Trophy is usually retired in cricket on very few occasions, but before that the Visdan Trophy played between England and West Indies was retired. After that the Richards-Bitham Trophy was started.
Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s cricket career
Mansoor Ali Khan was the former captain of the Indian cricket team. He represented the Indian team in 46 Test matches between 1961–1975. During this, he scored 2,793 runs in his career, along with 6 centuries and 16 fifty in his career.
The special thing is that Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi played 40 Test matches of his career as captain. Remind you that he had an accident at a very young age, after which his right eye was injured. A few months after this incident, he took the captaincy of the Indian team at the age of just 21.
