Myanmar earthquake: Earthquake tremors were felt once again in Myanmar on Saturday (March 29, 2025). According to the report of the United States Geological Survey (USGS), new tremors of 5.1 magnitude were felt in Nepita, a day after the deadly earthquake in the country.

1. Earthquake tremors were felt near Myanmar’s capital Nepeita at 2.50 pm, which was at a depth of 10 km. However, there is no news due to the latest shocks or any casualties.
2. The latest earthquake in Nipita occurred when officials are engaged in repairing damaged roads, while in most parts of the city, electricity, phones and internet services are closed.
3. On Friday (March 28, 2025) in Myanmar, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred and a 6.4 magnitude earthquake occurred exactly 11 minutes later, causing heavy havoc.
4. Buildings, bridges, historical structures, roads and other public infrastructure suffered heavy damage in the accident. Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar, was the center of destruction.
5. If the latest official figures are to be believed, at least 1,002 people have been killed and more than 2,300 people have been injured. Rescuers are working to remove bodies from the rubble. At the same time, the government has indicated that the number of dead may increase further. The government says that detailed figures are still being collected.
6. Its impact was also seen in the neighboring country Thailand. The buildings were shaken due to the earthquake and an under -construction skyscraper in Bangkok collapsed. At least nine people were killed.
7. Bangkok city officials said that so far 6 people have been found dead, 26 are injured and 47 people are still missing, most of whom have gone missing from a construction site near the popular quadruped market in the capital.
8. Thai officials said the earthquake and subsequent tremors were felt in most provinces of the country. There are reports of damage to residential buildings, hospitals and temples in many northern areas including Chiang Mai. However, only the casualties have been reported in Bangkok.
9. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Min Aung Having, the head of the Myanmar government and said that India stands in solidarity with the country in dealing with the destruction.
10. India brought 15 tonnes of relief material to Myanmar under its ‘Operation Brahma’ and is sending a contingent of 80 National Disaster Response Forces (NDRF) personnel for relief and rescue operations in Myanmar.
