Donald Trump Tariff: When most people in India were sleepy, President Donald Trump was making a big announcement in America, which surprised the whole world. Trump announced his new tariff on Wednesday, causing a stir in the global markets. This time he did not spare his close colleagues.
During a speech at the Rose Garden of White House, Trump showed a chart, which was aware of the names of different countries and the American tariffs to be implemented on them. It was also told in the chart that how much tariff this country imposes on American goods and now America will impose ‘Reciperocle Tariff’ against them. Trump named this decision “Liberation Day”. These tariffs will be applicable from 9 April 2025. Apart from this, a baseline tariff of 10% declared already declared on all imports will also be effective.
26% tariff imposed on India
Trump announced to impose 26% tariff on India. According to him, India imposes 52% tariffs on American goods. Trump said, “India is very strict. PM Modi is my good friend, but I told him-you are my friends, but are not treating America properly. India imposes 52% tariff on us, while we have not taken almost any tax from them for years.”
Giving an example of motorcycle tariff, Trump said that the US charges only 2.4% import duty on motorcycles from other countries, while many countries charge tax on 60-70% tax on it.
Pakistan and Bangladesh blow a big shock from India
Trump’s new tariff has also affected India’s neighboring countries. He has also announced tariffs on Pakistan and Bangladesh and this rate is more than India. According to Trump’s poster, Pakistan imposes 58% tariffs on American goods. In response, the US has decided to impose 29% tariffs. At the same time, Bangladesh imposes 74% tariffs on American goods. On this, the US has announced to impose 37% tariffs.
Know what will have its effect
The tariff imposed on Pakistan is only 3% more than India, but it can become a major threat to its economy. Pakistan’s textile industry exports to the US extensively. This decision can create more difficulties for Pakistan, already struggling with domestic economic crisis and global competition.
The readymade garment industry of Bangladesh, which is the backbone of its economy, will be badly affected by this tariff. Bangladesh exports about $ 6 billion to America every year, and now it may get a big shock due to the new tariff. Both countries are already facing economic crisis. This tariff will increase their trade deficit, affect employment and there may be a decrease in foreign exchange reserves.
