India Justice Report and Nalasa Supreme Court report has come out. According to this, there are more than 24 thousand such prisoners in the districts of the country, who are in jail even after getting bail.

According to the report, due to the prisoners being in jail, they are not able to fulfill the conditions of bail. That is, these prisoners have not been able to deposit the bail amount. So they are in jail even after bail.

The report said that there are many people among these prisoners who went to jail for minor crimes. The total number of inmates in the country’s jails is 24,879. Of these, 50% are the highest from UP, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

  • Case-1: 15 thousand could not gather more than sentence, jailed in the case under consideration On 31 July 2024, there was a dispute between a passenger and a coolie at Dadar station. When the Coolie went to complain, the police filed a case against him. There is no one else in the family of Coolie. The NGO’s efforts were given a lawyer and the court granted bail on a bond of Rs 15,000. But due to lack of money, he is in jail.
  • Case-2: For two and a half years punishment, 3 years in jail, then acquitted Raju (name changed), resident of Bhavnagar, was caught with a bottle of liquor on 28 March 2019. The police sent a case under the excise act and sent him to jail. In May 2021, bail was received on a personal bond of 20 thousand through a lawyer of Legal Aid. There was no money. In the case in which it was closed, a maximum of two and a half years would have been punished, but remained in jail till 2024.
