In order to maintain transparency and public confidence in Judiciary, all the judges of the Supreme Court have decided to make their property details public while taking charge.
In the full court meeting held on 1 April, all 34 judges have decided to disclose their property in the presence of Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna.
The judges also said that the details related to the assets will be uploaded on the official website of the Supreme Court. However, the declaration of assets on the website will be voluntary.
The scheduled number of judges in the Supreme Court is 34. Currently there are 33 judges, one post is vacant. Out of these, 30 judges have given their property manifesto in the court. However, they have not been made public.
This decision has been taken after a dispute of getting cash from the house of Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Verma. Justice Verma’s government bungalow caught fire on 14 March. The fire service team received half -baked notes there.

Justice Verma transferred from Delhi to Allahabad
Justice Yashwant Verma, who was surrounded in the cash case, was transferred from the Delhi High Court to Allahabad High Court. The order has been issued after the recommendation of the Supreme Court and the President’s approval. However, the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court has been instructed not to assign any judicial work to Justice Verma.
The case is being investigated by the Supreme Court’s internal inquiry committee. Which has 3 judges. Justice Yashwant Verma may be produced soon in front of this committee.
