The committee investigating the house of Justice Yashwant Verma included Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Sheel Nagu, Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Anu Shivraman.
On March 26, the in-house committee formed by the Supreme Court reached the bungalow of Judge Verma with the Supreme Court in-house police in the case of the bundle of burnt notes of Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Verma. The committee member stayed inside Justice Verma’s house for about 30-35 minutes.
Here, Justice Verma met senior lawyers on Wednesday before appearing before the in-house inquiry committee. Actually, Justice Verma is preparing his final reply, this will be the basis of further action. Their appearance before the inquiry committee may be this week.
According to sources, Advocate reached the house of Siddharth Aggarwal, Arundhati Katju, Tara Narula, Stuti Gurjar and another Justice Verma. He helped finalize the answers to be given before the inquiry committee.
Justice Yashwant Verma stayed with his wife in the Madhai area of Satpura National Park on the night of 14 March. As soon as the information was received, he left for Bhopal the next day. Then went to Delhi. He was scheduled to stay till 15 March.
Justice Verma’s house caught fire on Holi on 14 March. When the fire service team went to extinguish her, they found a half-number of 500-500 rupees in sacks in the store room. Its video was also revealed.

Store room sealed 12 days after the incident, DVR of CCTV seized
Police reached his house. DCP New Delhi Devesh’s team sealed the store room of the judge’s bungalow 12 days after the incident, where the fire broke out on the night of 14 March. At the behest of the investigation team, the police seized the DVR of the CCTV camera. The committee has also summoned the PCR van-Thane register and the diary of the investigating officer who reached the spot. The team has also sought information from the Delhi Fire Brigade Department about the 2 soldiers who are seen removing the sacks of notes in the video.
Opposition to transfer, third day of Bar Association strike in Allahabad HC
The Allahabad High Court Bar Association is continuously opposing the matter of sending Justice Yashwant Verma back to Allahabad. Today is the third day of Allahabad HC Bar Association’s strike. The Bar Association has issued a show cause notice to the lawyers who do not support the strike. Also sought an answer in 2 days. There has also been a warning to abolish the membership of those who do not answer.

Earlier in 2018, the CBI lodged an FIR against Justice Verma in the case of disturbances in the Simbhavali sugar mill of Ghaziabad. According to NDTV report, Oriental Bank of Commerce complained of the mill disturbances. The complaint said that the sugar mill has misused a loan of Rs 97.85 crore issued for the farmers.
Justice Verma was then the non-executive director of the company. The CBI started investigation in this case. However, the investigation slowed down. In February 2024, a court ordered the CBI to resume the closed investigation, but the Supreme Court overturned the order and the CBI stopped the investigation.
