Air India refused to give a wheelchair to an 82 -year -old woman at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi. She kept waiting for an hour for this. Then had to walk far away.
She later fell near the airline counter. Falling caused serious injuries to the woman’s head and face, but no staff there helped. He has been admitted to ICU in a hospital in Bengaluru for two days.
The woman’s granddaughter Parul Kanwar posted on X on 7 March and alleged that on March 4 she was going from Delhi to Bengaluru with her grandmother. Airlines treated him badly with his elderly grandmother.
He demanded a wheelchair to the aircraft door for grandmother during ticket booking. The wheelchair was also confirmed on the ticket. But the wheelchair was not given even after waiting for 1 hour on Terminal-3.
Reached Bangalore sitting in aircraft with injuries

The woman has been in ICU for two days and the doctors are fearing her brain bleed.
Parul alleged that a wheelchair came later and the grandmother was seated in the plane, but did not get the right medical checkup. She climbed into the aircraft with injuries to the blood flowing from the lips, heads and nose.
The flight crew gave snow straps and called the doctor at Bangalore Airport, where 2 stitches were placed on the woman’s lips. Now they are in ICU and doctors are fearing their brain bleed.
The family has filed a complaint with DGCA and Air India and is now waiting for action.
Air India said- Passengers claim wrong Air India said on Saturday- Family members had requested for wheelchairs at Persons with Reduced Mobility Desk less than 90 minutes before the scheduled time of departure.
At that time, the wheelchair could not be made available within 15 minutes due to peak demand. Passengers’ claim to wait an hour is wrong. No help was denied.
According to Air India, passengers decided to run on their own. Unfortunately she fell into the premises of the airport. The airport doctor on duty immediately gave him first aid.
According to the airlines, we did not accept the offer of the airport doctor to provide additional medical facilities and family members insisted on continuing the journey to Bangalore.
The airline also stated that at the request of family members, our staff took the passenger to the Bengaluru Airport Complex for further medical facility. We have approached the passenger’s family.
Air India said- We are sad about this incident and we wish the woman to recover soon. We are investigating the matter thoroughly and will share information as soon as possible.
