Canada’s new immigration rules: Canada has implemented new immigration rules in the country. Under these new immigration rules, immigration officers will be able to cancel the visas of people living with temporary residence visas like study and work permits in the country. IRCC has changed the Rules Rules, Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulation for Cancellation of Immigration Documents. These changes made in the rules have already been implemented on 31 January 2025 and it has been published in Canada Gazette II.
Officials of immigration and border service will get power
Changes in the rules will allow officials of immigration and border service to get the cancellation of electronic travel authentication (ETA) and permanent residence visa (TRV). However, this can happen when a person is not eligible for that permit or gives false information or his own record or somehow his circumstances change.
How can officers cancel study and work permits
After a change in these rules, the Immigration Officers of Canada have given the right to cancel temporary resident visas like study and work permit under certain circumstances. In such a situation, if the officer is not satisfied that a person will leave from Canada after his fixed period and if there is an administrative mistake in someone’s documents, then in such a situation the officers can cancel the permit.
Apart from this, if a student refuses to take it after applying for studies or work permits, then their immigration documents can be canceled. However, apart from immigration and border service officers, any legal authority has not been empowered to cancel Visa or ETA, TRV, study and work permits.
Foreign nationals who have brought entry permits as tourists, workers or students in Canada will be considered as temporary residents in Canada. Apart from this, all the Asyathi residents will have to meet the Admissibility and Eligibility requirements under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the Regulation of Canada.
