Canada’s Liberal Party has dropped Indian -origin MP Chandra Arya out of the party leadership claim. Along with this, his ticket has also been cut from Napian. This decision has come amid allegations of close relations with the Government of India.
Chandra visited India last year and met PM Modi. However, the Canadian government and the Liberal Party have not given any reason to stop Chandra Arya on contesting elections.
Information not given to the party before coming to India The Globe & Mail quoted sources as saying that Chandra Arya had not informed the Canadian government about the visit, while India and Canada’s relations were going through a very tense phase at that time.
According to sources, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) had informed the Canadian government about Arya’s alleged close ties with the Government of India. Chandra Arya also criticized the Trudeau government for silence in memory of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in the Parliament of Canada on 22 June 2024.

Arya said- tickets were cut off by opposing Khalistanis
Meanwhile, Indian -origin MP Chandra Arya said, “My ticket was not cut due to close relations with India.” As an MP, I keep meeting many diplomats and heads of nation. He never took permission from the government for any such meeting.
Arya said that the reason for the leadership of the Liberal party and his removal from Napian is to continuously oppose the Khalistani movement. Arya has been raising voice against Khalistani elements in Canada.
Khalistani Pannu complained to Trudeau
Arya has voiced a strong voice against Khalistani elements in Canada. Khalistani groups irritated by Arya’s criticism have targeted him in the past. In October, the US -based Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu urged the then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to take action against Arya.
Chandra was previously considered close to Justin Trudeau, but Arya became his stunning opponent after Trudeau’s stance on Khalistani terrorism and extremism.
Earlier, Arya gave information about the decision and wrote on X-

I have been informed by the Liberal Party that my nomination has been canceled as a candidate for the upcoming federal election in Napian. This news is disappointing. But this will not reduce the pride of serving Napian people.
Earlier, Chandra Arya announced his candidature on 9 January. But even then the party canceled his candidature. The party described them as ‘unqualified’ for this.

Visited from Karnataka to Canada in 2006 Chandra Arya is originally a resident of Sira taluk of Tumkuru, Karnataka. He settled in Canada in 2006. Arya has done MBA from Kausali Institute of Management Studies in Dharwad.
After reaching Canada, he began working as an investment consultant in Ottawa and later served as an executive in a defense company for six years. He was the President of the Indo-Canada Ottawa Business Chamber before joining politics.
In 2015, he first fought the Federal Election and reached Parliament after winning the election. In 2019 and 2021 he again became MP. Arya has often criticized Khalistani and extremist activities. They have expressed concern over attacks and religious frenzy on Hindu temples.
Because of this, he has also faced disputes. In October, the US -based Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu appealed to the then Prime Minister Trudeau to take action against Arya.
On 28 April in Canada Election General elections are going to be held in Canada on 28 April. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced it on 23 March. Carney sought a strong mandate from the public to deal with US President Donald Trump. Mark Carney has sworn in as Prime Minister of Canada this month.
