Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule told Sanjay Raut- Under the leadership of PM Modi, the resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047 will be realized.

Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Tuesday that there is no retirement rule in the party at the age of 75 years. Also, the tenure of Prime Minister Modi will decide the people of the country.

In fact, Bawankule gave this response to the statement of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, which the BJP described as a political stunt.

What did Bawankule say on PM Modi’s retirement statement?

  • There is no such rule in the BJP that Modi should retire from politics after the age of 75, nor has any such decision has been taken.
  • There is no such obligation even in the Indian Constitution. Among the former Prime Ministers, Atal Bihari Vajpayee took the position by the age of 79, Morarji Desai till the age of 83, and Dr. Manmohan Singh took over by the age of 81.

Fadnavis said- Modi ji is our leader, he will continue in office

On Raut’s statement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said- PM Modi will continue to lead the country for many years. Talking to the media in Nagpur, Fadnavis said- In 2029, we will see Modi ji again as Prime Minister.

He is our leader and he will continue in office. It is not right to discuss succession while being active of the leader. It is unfair to talk about succession when the father is alive in our culture. This is Mughal culture. The time has not come to discuss this.

Limits of age at state and board level are applicable in BJP

There is no official rule within BJP to remain in office for a certain age. However, age limitations have been applied at some levels. For example, Chhattisgarh BJP has set the age limit of 35 to 45 years for the post of Mandal President and 45 to 60 years for the post of district president.

At the same time, BJP did not give tickets to many senior leaders above 75 years of age in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. It included many leaders like LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan, Kalraj Mishra.

BJP retired many leaders at the age of 75 years After the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the trend of retiring leaders of more than 75 years of age in BJP begins. For the first time, Narendra Modi, who became Prime Minister, had given place in his cabinet to the younger leaders.

LK Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi were included in the guide board. When Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel resigned in 2016, he was also 75 years old at that time. The same year Najma Heptullah also resigned from the Modi cabinet, whose age was 76 years.

Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the then BJP President Amit Shah said in an interview- no one above 75 years has been given a ticket. This is the party’s decision. In that election, leaders like Sumitra Mahajan and Hukumdev Narayan Yadav were not given tickets.

Similarly, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the ticket of Rajendra Aggarwal, Santosh Gangwar, Satyadev Pachauri, Rita Bahuguna Joshi was cut due to more than 75 years of age.

In March 2023, senior leader Murali Manohar Joshi involved in the guide board lighting a lamp with PM Modi at a BJP program. His ticket was cut in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

75 -year -old barrier will not be applicable to Modi During the Lok Sabha elections, there was a lot of rhetoric about PM Modi’s retirement. In May 2024, Arvind Kejriwal had said that if the BJP won the Lok Sabha elections, Modi will remain the Prime Minister till next year. PM Modi himself has made this rule (retirement at the age of 75 years).

On the same day, Home Minister Amit Shah had said, ‘I want to clarify that there is no such provision in the BJP’s Constitution. Modi ji will lead the country by 2029. Modi ji will also lead in the upcoming elections.

Similarly, party president JP Nadda had said that there is no such provision about age anywhere in the BJP’s Constitution. In the next 5 years, Modi ji will take the country to new heights. Modi ji is our leader. We will continue to lead us in future also.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also said in an interview to ANI, ‘I want to be a senior BJP leader that he (Narendra Modi) will become the Prime Minister of India in 2024. He will also become the Prime Minister of India in 2029.

Joshi said- no differences between Modi and RSS Former RSS Sarkaryavah Suresh Bhaiyaji Joshi on Monday denied the news of differences between RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that all this is the gift of the media. Modi is doing many great things and promoting them.

On Modi’s retirement plan, Joshi said that I have no information in this regard. In fact, due to the statements of Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat and other RSS leaders for the last few months, there is speculation in the relationship between PM Modi and Sangh.

In December 2024, Bhagwat had said at a program in Pune, ‘Manipur has been doing a trial for a year. Who will pay attention to this? It is a duty to consider giving priority. One who lives within the limits of dignity while performing duty, such a person is actually entitled to be called a servant. ‘

Nadda said- earlier RSS was needed, BJP enabled today Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP President JP Nadda gave an interview to The Indian Express. In this interview of May 19, 2024, he said that the RSS is a cultural organization, while the BJP is a political organization. Initially we were less competent and small. At that time we needed RSS. Today we have grown up and we are capable. If you are capable then BJP runs itself.
