All the people were residents of Patna. The family of the deceased said that all had gone to Prayagraj from Patna to Mahakumbh for bathing. The son of the deceased was driving. Due to the nap, the car collided in the truck parked.

There were 4 women and 2 men in the dead. Among those who died were Sanjay Kumar (62) of Jakkanpur, Patna, wife Karuna Devi (58), son Lal Babu Singh (25) and niece Priyam Kumari (20). Also, there were Asha Kiran (28) and Juhi Rani (25), residents of Kumharar in Patna.
