Ranya Rao returned to India from Dubai via Emirates Flight.
Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) with 14.8 kg gold at Bangalore International Airport late on February 3. Information about this has come out today.
Ranya Karnataka Police Housing Corporation Director General of Police (DGP) is the step daughter of Ramchandra Rao. He has worked in Kannada films Manikya and Patki. He has currently been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
According to DRI officials, Ranya Rao returned to India from Dubai via Emirates Flight. Security agencies were already monitoring their activity, as she had gone to Dubai 4 times in the last 15 days.
DRI’s Delhi team was already aware of Ranya’s involvement in gold smuggling. So on March 3, the officers reached the airport two hours before the land of his flight.
Trying to avoid custom through police According to the information, Ranya Rao described herself as the daughter of DGP of Karnataka as soon as he landed at the airport. Also tried to contact the local police and remove it from the airport. But DRI’s team took him to the DRI headquarters at HRB layout in Bangalore for questioning.
Investigation revealed that Ranya was wearing parts of gold in the jewelery room. Also, some part was hidden in his clothes. He was detained at 7 pm after the illegal gold was confirmed.
Smuggling was being done in the name of business During the investigation, Ranya claimed that she had gone to Dubai in connection with the business. However, DRI officials suspect that she may be part of a large network of smuggling. Now investigating agencies are trying to find out whether this happened for the first time or she has been involved in gold smuggling earlier.
