The case is related to the 2015 Bahbal Kalan firing scandal, which is related to the incidents of hurting religious sentiments in Punjab and then police firing. A legal battle has been going on for a long time regarding this case.
The Supreme Court, while refusing to interfere in the High Court’s decision, clarified that the decision to transfer the case to Chandigarh is judicial. Along with this, the court also rejected the special leave petition of the Punjab government.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had earlier ordered the case to be transferred from Faridkot to Chandigarh to ensure a fair hearing and political influence -free trial. Against this, the Punjab government had moved the Supreme Court last year.
Firing was done on people in protest against disgrace
The Bahbal Kalan firing case is associated with firing in Bahbal Kalan village in Faridkot district in October 2015, in which police fired against the protesting against the dishonesty of the religious texts, killing two people and injured many.
In this case, some senior officers of Punjab Police were accused and questions have also been raised on the trial process.
