Bangkok earthquake: The Thailand Police has detained 4 Chinese citizens on Sunday (March 30, 2025) for illegally entering the building under construction. Thailand police say that these four were trying to remove the document from the building site.
The China -backed construction firm is being investigated in the case of the collapse of the 30 -storey building under construction during the earthquake on Friday as the incomplete building collapsed in a few seconds. Dozens of people got trapped under the debris. According to a report in National Thailand, Metropolitan Police Bureau Deputy Commissioner and Police Major General Nopasin Poolswat said that four Chinese citizens have been arrested for illegally removing 32 files of documents from behind the State Audit Office (SAO) building without permission.
After the earthquake, the Governor of Bangkok declared the area a disaster sector, causing this to become a restricted area, where no one was allowed to go without permission. However, the police said that on Saturday, they received information about removing the documents from some persons from the site. During the investigation, he saw a Chinese person near the spot who claimed that he is the project manager of a building construction project.
Police seized 32 documents
During the investigation, it was confirmed that the arrested person had a valid work permit and his company was employed by a joint venture with Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited, the contractor of the building under construction. The National Thailand report said that the police also caught three other people and seized 32 documents with them, which had many types of documents.
The four told the police that they work for a contractor under the Italian-Thi Development Public Company Limited. He said that he had gone to receive the documents required for the insurance claim, which was kept in a container which was being used by the company as a temporary office. After interrogation, the police temporarily released them.
Case filed against 5 Chinese citizens
A complaint has been lodged against five Chinese citizens on Sunday for entering the site under construction and removing blueprint and other documents from the collapsed state audit office building. The police is investigating the entire case. According to the news agency AFP, till Sunday 17 people have been confirmed, 32 people are injured and 76 people are still reported missing.
